Angelina's Dessert Island Discs

Wednesday, from 11:00 to 13:00
4121views

Angelina’s Dessert Island Discs has moved to Wednesdays from 11am...

I love meeting people and finding out what makes them feel groovy and what has lead them to follow the path that they have chosen. If you tune in to Angelina’s Dessert Island Discs, you’ll hear my guests and I board our imaginary boat and sail along to the soundtrack of their lives. You’ll hear some fascinating tales and sometimes benefit from some very good advice – touching all aspects of life; physical, practical, emotional, career – the list goes on and varies week to week, depending on who is gracing my show with their presence!

When I don’t have a guest with me, I have a VAST choice of songs to entertain you with and sometimes that can be overwhelming. I’d been reading about the paradox of choice and the freedom of limitation; I decided, why not set some parameters? And that’s how I created Angelina’s Songchain. I’m sure I’m not the first radio presenter ever to do this but it was a revelation to me (it’s mine and I’m keeping it, ha ha!) Songchain is a magical mystery tour around the treasury that is The Pulse HR’s archive of songs. This is a veritable river of music that runs far and deep and spans many decades. I’ll begin with a song and then each song after that must have a word from the previous one in its title. Songchain began as an experiment. I thought I would soon have to stop because I feared every song would end up with ‘love’ in the title! However, I’ve compiled a different playlist of eclectic and infinitely listenable tunes every week. And in this way I have happened upon loads of really great songs that I haven’t heard since I was sixteen (erm... that’s quite a long time ago!)  and discovered fantastic songs (some utterly heart melting, some supremely uplifting) that are entirely new to me. Do tune in and you’ll see what I mean.

If you think you might like to be a guest on my show, do get in touch, I would love to meet you. You could think of it as a practice-run before you get that call from Radio 4!

You can follow me on facebook.com/angelina.melwani and on twitter @appleina and Instagram to hear about forthcoming guests.
